After four rounds of price reductions, coke prices began their first price increase plan for 2026 last week. Many companies received the price increase notice last Friday.
From December 2025 onwards, due to profitability falling to its lowest point of the year, steel mills continuously shifted pressure onto coke producers. By New Year's Day, the spot price of coke had been reduced in four rounds, with a cumulative decrease of 100-120 yuan/ton. During this period, due to relatively stable prices, coke producers' profits continued to decline and have now entered a loss-making range. Since mid-December 2025, coking coal prices have stabilized and risen, and steel mills have entered the pre-Spring Festival restocking phase, increasing demand for raw materials. Coke producers initiated the first round of price increases on January 16th, which is expected to take effect on the 19th.
